Take yourself seriously!
Perhaps you’re a little irritated right now, because I recently pleaded with you not to take yourself too seriously. That’s still true in the context of the fact that we are just a blink of an eye in the universe. We’re just seeing what happens in this world when everyone thinks they’re the only one in charge.
So what’s this ‘take yourself seriously’ thing? I’ve just been on an incredible retreat myself, an initiation, and was able to realize how important it is to really take yourself seriously.
How long would you accept crossing boundaries and no-go’s if YOU really took yourself seriously? I can’t ask anyone out there to take me at my word if I don’t do it myself. I also can’t expect anyone to really listen to me and take me seriously if deep down I don’t take myself seriously, but still believe that I have nothing important to say and that a (lazy) compromise is okay.
In a crucial situation in the aforementioned retreat, I didn’t really take my own arguments seriously, or rather I didn’t fully commit to them, but very quickly bowed to the majority. I dropped out – and woke up! F*ck, I actually still believe that head arguments are worth more than the gut vote. Just because not everyone agrees with me right away doesn’t mean that my idea or my values aren’t the ones that ultimately serve the greater good. Of course, this also applies to you! Take yourself seriously, take your vision seriously, take your inner voice seriously – only then will others do the same.
